A USMC LAV-25 Reconnaissance Vehicle
Why Do I Like Them So Much?
I'm not completely sure. However, if I had to guess I would say that it's because they're sort of am intersection of everything I find interesting. They have engines like cars, they're part of history, and they have guns. Tankfully (HA!) I'm not the only one who's a little bit (or a lot a bit) fascinated by them. There are a ton of games, a few movies, and even a couple of animes in which tanks are the main focus. Not to mention the entire community of people digging through old production records, orders, and forums to learn more about them.
Yes, I Know Those Aren't "Tanks."
If you share my interest in AFVs, then you probably know that most AFVs aren't tanks and that even among AFV fans there can be some controversy surrounding that designation (See: The Leopard 1 and M10 Booker). So why did I name this page "Tanks!" then insert an image of something that is decidedly not a tank? Well, there are a couple reasons: for one, most people don't know this fact and would be confused if the page was titled "Amphibious Armored Reconnaissance Vehicles"; secondly It's just more fun. I don't think that anyone is going to use this hastily made site as an academic source, so "tanks" is good enough for me.
